Let us help you to achieve optimum health! Just getting into better shape next year is not enough to limit your risk of health problems.
- Did you know that even if you have a healthy diet and take a multi-vitamin that does not mean your body is actually absorbing what you need?
- Did you know that as we age, our ability to absorb certain nutrients declines? Have you ever wondered what positive effect the supplements you consume have on your body?
- Did you know that 50% of people taking supplements will still remain deficient in these nutrients?
There is a test that measures the levels of select vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other essential micronutrients within your white blood cells (lymphocytes). This new technology offered by SpectraCell Laboratories measures the intracellular function of essential micronutrients within live white blood cells, which reflects your levels over the last few months.
Current standard serum tests only reflect a person’s diet over a narrow window of time. Additionally these tests can be biased by many factors, especially by foods eaten during the few days preceding the test, which can mask the detection of long-term deficiencies.
With evidence documenting that micronutrient deficiency contribute to all types of problems, including arthritis, cancer, heart disease and diabetes – YOU WANT TO KNOW THAT YOU ARE GIVING YOUR BODY WHAT IT NEEDS! By measuring the biochemical function of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants, we give you a powerful tool in your health care or disease management program for achieving optimum health!
Who should have this test done? Ideally, everyone – especially since most PPO insurance companies cover this test! It may be especially helpful for anyone with fatigue, fibromyalgia, arthritis, heart disease, those on medications and anyone with a chronic illness.
Most PPO forms of insurance will cover this test with a nominal $160 co-pay, and Medicare patients pay $70 or less at the time of testing. Blood is drawn at a local lab, just two minutes from our office, and results are usually available within three weeks. With the exception of the omega-3, no insurance currently covers this test.
The results will be explained to you in detail, a treatment plan will be established, and you will be re-tested in four to six months to determine if your deficiencies have been corrected.
The following information will be provided on new lab tests!
SpectraCell Laboratories, primarily known for its functional nutritional testing, now offers a complete Cardiometabolic Panel to measure risk of heart disease and diabetes. The new panel, which includes SpectraCell’s advanced Lipoprotein Particle Profile™, reports several clinically relevant biomarkers in three areas: (1) Glycemic control (2) Lipid Metabolism and (3) Vascular Inflammation. Each patient is given a pre-diabetic risk score ranging from 1 to 8 depending on their results. As a clinician, you can monitor both their specific biomarkers as well as their composite risk and treat accordingly. Assessing cardiometabolic function is the first step in treating it.
An innovative assessment of a patient’s intracellular nutritional status. 34 vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants are evaluated. These tests allow nutritional assessment for a broad variety of clinical conditions including arthritis, cancer, cardiovascular risk, diabetes, various immunological disorders, metabolic disorders and micronutrient deficiencies.
SpectraCell’s Hormone Balance Panels: Like nutrients, an imbalance of one hormone can initiate a cascade of events that alters other hormones, so a comprehensive look at hormone status is essential. Through SpectraCell, complete male and female panels are now available. Both end-point steroid hormones as well as precursor hormones are included so the precise place of imbalance in the complicated hormonal cascade can be pinpointed. Several peptide hormones are also included as well as a complete thyroid panel, including thyroid antibody testing. Ordered with our micronutrient testing, you can truly get a baseline assessment of your patient’s hormonal balance.
Telomeres are sections of genetic material at the end of each chromosome whose primary function is to prevent chromosomal “fraying” when a cell replicates. As a cell ages, its telomeres become shorter. Eventually, the telomeres become too short to allow cell replication, the cell stops dividing and will ultimately die – a normal biological process. SpectraCell’s Telomere Test can determine the length of a patient’s telomeres in relation to the patient’s age. A Telomere Score is calculated based on the patient’s average telomere length in peripheral whole blood cells. This average is then compared to telomere lengths from a population sample in the same age range as the patient to determine the patient’s percentile score.
This test determines an individual’s genetic risk associated with the Apolipoprotein E gene. ApoE is involved in the metabolism of cholesterol and triglycerides, and variants in this gene can have clinically relevant implications for disease risk as well as one’s response to statin therapy, dietary fat, and other risk factors (eg., smoking and alcohol consumption). Approximately 45% of individuals carry one or more of the high risk variants within the ApoE gene. The results of the genotyping of Apolipoprotein E have important implications in the treatment strategies for individual patients in reducing cardiovascular disease risk.
MTHFR is an enzyme responsible for converting 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate to the product 5-methyltetrahydrofolate – it is involved in the metabolism of folate and homocysteine. The product of the reaction catalyzed by MTHFR converts homocysteine (a potentially toxic amino acid) to methionine (a useful and necessary amino acid).
NEW Factor V Leiden and Prothrombin G20210A genotyping indicate whether a person has an increased likelihood to form blood clots (thrombosis). Presence of either gene increases the chance of deep vein thrombosis, and may also provide useful information on heart attack risk.
